Pictures and videos are the only way to preserve memories of your beautiful day. And you will leave no stone unturned to ensure your day to be a picture-perfect affair. From the best venue to choosing the perfect outfit, you will do it all to have a truly memorable event. However, when hiring a photographer or videographer for your occasion, you may slip up on picking the right one due to a lack of knowledge. You may base your decision on the information they offer without considering to check on their experience, quality of work, and attention to detail. You may compromise on quality, which could lead to disappointments or, worse, disaster. To help you steer clear of committing errors that could prove to be costly, LogicWorx has put together a list of the most common mistakes people make when hiring a photographer or videographer.

  1. Hiring an inexperienced photographer or videographer
We often see most amateurs and small companies purchasing a piece of consumer equipment and advertise themselves as an experienced photographer or videographer would. Still, in reality, they have no experience or portfolio to show the work they have performed. At LogicWorx studios, we share our projects and reviews with our customers. The images and video we have created, and the equipment we bring to the event are all professional grade!
  2. Believing what they see on a website
Just because a videographer or photographer has a professional camera or drone doesn’t make them a professional. These individuals can’t back up with references, examples, and a solid portfolio.

We always encourage our clients to check other photographer or videographer services, particularly their work and experience.

  1. No insurance
Or worse, a drone operator who has no insurance or license! It’s amazing to see the risks that you or any business take just to save a few bucks by hiring a photographer or drone operator that doesn’t have insurance and a valid license.

We carry multi-million-dollar liability coverages for all our work, whether it’s providing drone aerial video or studio photography. We have experience spanning more than a decade with a marketing background. We know what works, sells, and how to set the perfect shot.

  1. Hiring a “wannabe photographer”
Sure, the mistake is that they buy a low-grade camera, take a few mediocre pictures, and now think they can call themselves a “professional photographer”. The common mistake novice photographers and videographers make is assuming the equipment makes the picture. However, that’s not the case, but it’s the combination of the skills of the photographer, their experience, attention to detail, creativity, and vision, plus the equipment which makes the photographer stand out from the rest. When you are hiring a photographer, dig deep into their services, what equipment do they use, what can they offer that no other photographer can? Do they have a portable studio? How do they handle lighting and staging etc.?

We have the experience, attention to detail, and equipment and continue to invest heavily in the skills of our team through continual learning programs offered through the photography institute, creativity institute and advancing the technology of our equipment with continual upgrades and purchase of new equipment.

  1. Lack of customer relationship management
When you receive your photos or video back, and it’s not right, it is a sign that the photographer you hired was inexperienced and didn’t have a clearly defined business process and customer relationship management system to capture your ideas and collaborate with you towards the final product. We have been in situations where we have had to fix issues caused by “low-bid” photographers, as the customer’s decision was purely based on cost, which unfortunately ends up costing the client more money in the long run. At LogicWorx studios, while we aren’t an economical company, but we try to deliver outstanding value at a reasonable cost within your budget. It’s why we continue to receive high praise for our work and have on average three to five new clients each week.
